Dinan's Medieval Festival 2014

by Stark Jeremy December 12 2013, 19:55

Preparations are well underway for the next 'Fête des Remparts' in Dinan, scheduled to start on the 17th July 2014 for four days.

On the first two days (Thursday and Friday) there will be workshops and conferences, - the content is still being finalised, but should include sessions on fencing, music, cooking and possibly calligraphy. The aim is to engage and involve both children and adults actively in the events rather than just be spectators.

The main festival will take place as usual over the weekend on the 19th and 20th - the theme this year is 'Invention and Discovery'

If you've been at the Festival , you'll know what a relaxed and enjoyable weekend it is.

If you haven't been before , expect to find an exciting mix of theatrical events, music, markets and strangely dressed people. The town makes a perfect background for the festival, many people are dressed the part adding to the atmosphere.

The jousting, and free open air dance on Saturday evening in the main square are just two of the weekend's highlights.

Here's a selection of photos from previous years to give a flavour of what you can expect!
